Local family doctors respond to community needs for improved primary care with A GP for Me funding and strategies

April 9, 2015 - Chilliwack: The Chilliwack Division of Family Practice has responded to identified community health care needs by introducing six strategies to improve the capacity and delivery of local primary care services and increase support for vulnerable patients, including the establishment of a dedicated phone line to connect unattached patients with primary care providers. The current focus for this attachment initiative will be patients who do not have a family doctor or nurse practitioner. The needs of patients with primary care providers outside of the community or those looking to improve their relationship with their primary care provider will be addressed in later stages. The Division, which represents family doctors and nurse practitioners (as associate members) in Chilliwack, Agassiz-Harrison, Seabird Island and Hope, is responding to public feedback from a 2013 community survey and 2014 public forums which identified strengths and challenges in the local primary health care system.
