Central Okanagan, BC —Local seniors who do not have a family doctor now have a unique way to indicate their need for one, and to start the process of getting attached to a doctor. The Central Okanagan Division of Family Practice is launching a new Mobile Assessment Unit on November 6 that brings senior residents together with health care workers, as a way to gather and prepare their health information for transfer to a family doctor when one becomes available.
“This innovative approach to identifying local seniors’ need for a primary care physician is a perfect example of the work that is underway across the province through A GP for Me,” said Health Minister Terry Lake. “It is great news that this project will give the Central Okanagan Division of Family Practice an accurate picture of the medical needs of seniors in the community so they, the health authority and community partners can better plan for and provide care for patients and their families.” Read more
